About

Chef Ciaran Armstrong or just Ciaran as he prefers to be called graduated at the top of his class at Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education (BIFHE) before he becoming a professional chef.

After working for a Michelin-starred restaurant in Northern Ireland, he followed his heart and travelled halfway across the world from his homeland to Singapore. Since 2011, Ciaran has been helming the bustling Halia kitchen in various capacities and is currently the Executive Chef for The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Works

Chef Ciaran enjoys how his creative juices can flow freely with Halia’s concept of Asian flavours executed with European techniques.  He is constantly challenging himself to create new and unique dishes inspired by his love of different cuisines. His love for Asian cuisine can be seen in the Asian-inspired dishes in Halia’s menu. Some note-worthy dishes on Halia’s menu include Wagyu Beef Rendang Quesadilla; and the Halia’s Prawn Mango Salad, with the ginger flower dressing adding a burst of Asian flavour.

Chef Ciaran credits his success to always keeping customer satisfaction a priority He believes this is also the reason behind Halia’s success, given the volatility of the local F&B scene. He says, “Halia’s success is attributed to our desire to listen to our customers’ ever-changing needs and desires. We also put great emphasis on quality, service and value to remain a top destination for diners.”

In the years to come, he hopes to continue helming Halia’s cuisine and take it to new uncharted levels. He has re-emphasised Halia’s priority to continue ensuring that the food and service is available at its optimum, and hopefully expand the brand further.
